Saying Farewell to Lt. Mike Nikolin
All the old warriors gathered as they bid farewell to an old friend. There was most certainly, a lot of RESPECT, LOVE and ADMIRATION shared as we stood outside, in the common area after the service. When you mention the names of some of these great men and women of my days, such as Jim Keltgen, Dave Thomas, Frank Melody, Patty and Mike Smith, Ruthie and (Terry Cooper) RIP, Richard Shore, Dennis Garret, Kathy Magill and many others that showed up to pay their respects to a great family man, a man of God and an outstanding police officer who gave so much to the community during and after his career. Assistant Chief, Sean Connolly, and the honor guard did an excellent job with the flag presentation to the family along with Gary Eckert who presented the FORPO memorial wreath. A celebration of life indeed as you were the faithful servant who lived your life through the eyes of God.God Bless the Bell and Nikolin families as you find peace in knowing that Mike is happily resting in the heavens of earth watching over us.
In Loving Memory of Officer Larry Hort
N LOVING MEMORY OF OUR DEAR FRIEND, LARRY HORT. AUGUST 17TH, 1955-NOVEMBER 23, 2020 FOREVER BLUESTRONG Larry’s memorial service today, which brought back a flood of memories after seeing old friends. Several friends along with all of the old warriors from the North Side Street Crimes showed up to pay their LOVE and Respect and grieve for their fallen comrade.. There were stories shared of a beautiful love affair, between Tammy and Larry. We believe this was one of Larry’s favorite lyrics from the Beatles song for Tammy.. “In my life, I’ll love you more.” ❤️❤️ There were tears shed as some reminisced of how Tammy and the family slept on the floor by Larry’s bed in the living room, never wanting to miss a single moment together. Hearing stories of how the old squad would go over and relieve Tammy so she could get a little sleep over the last few months. It was truly an honor for Tom Ashmore and I (James Riley) to work around and back these great men and women up in street crimes such as Dave Wilson, Jim Gwin, Darrel Smith, Sean Murphy, Mike Metelski,Ray Wilm, Sean Connell, Jerry Hubert, Steve Blasko and a few others which I’m sure that I’m forgetting right now.
